Lovely church with lots of interesting remembrance plaques and beautiful stained glass windows.
Stunning 10th century castle and church built atop a hill on the outskirts of central Lancaster. The castle is in active use as a court room. It offers guided tours, although we were happy just to wonder about the grounds and appreciate the beauty at winter sunset. Definitely worth a visit as it's not packed with tourists and is a short walk from the city centre.
There is gorgeous architecture in the Priory, next to the Castle, and a rich history behind it. The Christmas Carol service that I attended was wonderfully put together, well attended and a pleasure to the ears and the mind. Whether it be for a drop-in or a scheduled service, the Priory is a place in Lancaster well worth visiting.
I was singing here as a member of a choir. It was a magical Christmas experience, which I hope was shared by the congregation. The building is atmospheric, and warm too! Not all churches have this last feature!
Well, it's a big church. Pleasantly interesting parts. Of course, it's rather integrated into the dominant culture here, with war memorials etc. But the architecture is good.
